Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University's CHO Adult Ambulatory Oncology Infusion Clinic in Portland seeks an experienced RN to deliver infusion care for hematology/oncology patients. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic ambulatory setting, providing compassionate, evidence-based care across a variety of oncology populations.

The role requires 2+ years nursing experience, Oregon RN licensure, and oncology-specific credentials.

Qualifications

• Must have 2 years of nursing experience.
• BSN graduates: degree from CCNE/ACEN/CNEA accredited program 30 days before start.
• ADN graduates: degree from accredited program 30 days before start.
• BSN students must enroll in BSN program within 3 years and complete within 5 years.
• Current, unencumbered Oregon State RN License
• BLS from AHA required; orientation period
• Oncology provider qualification: ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider card on hire
• Cancer education: OCC/NCI pathways as specified
• One cancer-specific certification (OCN, BMTCN, etc.)
• 36 cancer-related CE hours per accreditation cycle

Responsibilities

• Provide care in five ambulatory oncology infusion rooms in the Portland area.
• Open 7 days a week, including holidays and weekends.
• Rotate between infusion sites and related assignments per training and space.
• Triage, infusion referrals, and charge nurse responsibilities as needed.

Department Overview

The CHO Adult Ambulatory Oncology Infusion Clinic at OHSU primarily serves patients within Hematology Oncology, Medical Oncology and Classical Hematology. We collaborate with KCI Ambulatory Oncology Clinics, Dietitians, Pharmacy, Social Work, Case Management and other members of the multidisciplinary health care team to provide exceptional oncology care for our patients and community. Our teams support programs that include, but are not limited to, the Hepatic Arterial Infusion Pump program, Phase I Clinical Trials, and the OHSU Cellular therapy programs.

The CHO Adult Ambulatory Oncology Infusion Clinic at OHSU primarily serves patients within Hematology Oncology, Medical Oncology and Classical Hematology. Function/Duties of Position

Five ambulatory oncology infusion rooms located in the Portland metro area. Chair/bed number ranges from 10-15 depending on site. Provide care to both Oncology and non-Oncology patients. Open 7 days a week including holidays and weekends. Department Specific Working Conditions: Shared and collaborative infusion space. Ability to alternate between various work sites, depending on the practices, space allocation, division of daily work activities, etc. Rotate into other assignments (conditional based on appropriate training) such as infusion referrals, triage and charge nurse Department.

Patient Populations

• Hematologic Malignancies: Leukemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma, Allogeneic/ Autologous Transplant, CAR-T, TIL, DLI, etc.
• Medical Oncology: Sarcoma, Head and Neck, Breast, Lung, GI/GU, Prostate, etc.
• Classical Hematology: Bleeding disorders, clotting disorders, anemias, white blood cell disorders, platelet disorders.
• Other: Our infusion unit serves a variety of populations requiring interventional treatments only available at the CHO Ambulatory Oncology Outpatient Infusion Unit.

Required Qualifications

• Must have 2-years of nursing experience.
• BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
• ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
• Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
• Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
• BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
• The RN must meet one oncology provider qualification:
• ONS Chemotherapy/ Biotherapy provider card upon hire.
• Oregon Health and Science University NCI Collaborative Systemic Cancer Therapies for the Oncology Nurse course.
• Oregon Health and Science University NCI Collaborative 2-year renewal course.
• The RN must hold one Professional certification or meet Commission on Cancer education requirements:
• Current cancer-specific certification in the nurse's specialty (OCN, BMTCN, etc.) by an accredited certification program.
• Completion of 36 cancer-related continuing education nursing contact hours each accreditation cycle, per Commission on Cancer requirements.

Additional Details

• External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.
• Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area. An employment service agreement may apply.
