Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse for inpatient behavioral health units in a hospital setting. You will provide a safe milieu, participate in crisis intervention and coordinate nursing care across multiple populations, including children and adults.

You will lead care teams, monitor patient vitals, administer medications under a physician, and possibly assume Charge Nurse duties. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelors from an accredited Nursing School/Program required.
  • RN license in good standing.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • 2+ years in addiction or inpatient psychiatric health setting preferred.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining patient treatment plans preferred.
  • EMR experience preferred; computer-based knowledge preferred.
  • Strong oral and written skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Strategic and empathetic decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of nursing and patient care principles.
  • Ensure patient and environmental safety by unit checks and rounds.
  • Coordinate and communicate with doctors and treatment team.
  • Demonstrate leadership within patient care parameters.
  • Perform contraband searches as needed.
  • Oversee vitals; monitor vitals as needed.

  • RN may assume Charge Nurse responsibilities and oversee unit workflow.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is a key member of the treatment team and works under the supervision of the CNO, ADON, and Nurse Manager. Primary responsibilities include providing a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and activities of daily living. RNs will coordinate, delegate, evaluate and monitor nursing care for a variety of psychiatric patients. Successful candidates must demonstrate leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment, flexibility for reassignment to various units/populations including children, adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients, and must know and comply with all confidentiality laws and regulations, e.g., HIPAA.

The work is performed in a hospital/inpatient behavioral health setting, with potential exposure to environmental hazards, crisis/emergency situations, infectious diseases (including HIV/TB/Hepatitis), blood and body fluids, and needle sticks.
