Admissions Registered Nurse (RN)
The Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) performs nursing assessments, judgments, and treatment decisions for hospice patients and families. The nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to provide high-quality patient care.
Job Responsibilities
- Complete clinical admissions for all company services.
- Explain services to patients/families, addressing concerns and easing fears.
- Identify admission objections and provide appropriate responses.
- Educate patients/families on admission requirements and address immediate needs.
- Complete informed consents and initial assessments per regulations and company policy.
- Provide information to physicians and initiate a plan of care to address patient needs.
- Initiate skilled nursing interventions to prevent complications, alleviate symptoms, and maximize comfort.
- Obtain physician orders and complete documentation per company policy.
- Act as the company representative at assigned facilities, facilitating referrals and working closely with hospitals, physicians, and families.
- Communicate frequently with Care Navigation staff to ensure timely follow‑up and timely assignment hand‑offs.
- Provide all necessary clinical communication in a timely manner using SBAR.
- Obtain consents for services and arrange safe discharge in an efficient manner while meeting productivity expectations.
- Acquire medical record information for referrals and develop strong relationships with case managers and physicians.
- Work with Professional Relations Representatives to provide education on available services.
- Provide care for any GIP patients in a hospital, including daily visits, professional management, documentation, and efficient discharge.
- Respond to emergencies (e.g., hurricanes) by reporting to designated locations as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of employment.
- Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience; hospice or hospital experience preferred.
- Experience with an EMR/EHR system.
- Strong clinical assessment skills; preferred background in emergency department or ICU.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Ability to present services professionally and articulately.
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance per company policy; reliable transportation for scheduling.
- Team‑oriented with the ability to intervene appropriately.
- Strong time‑management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Capacity to handle emotional stress of workload.
- Physical capability to perform essential functions, including lifting patients and equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, and kneeling.
- Strong goal/outcome orientation with exceptional time‑management skills.
- Excellent customer service focus.
- Active BLS certification for healthcare professionals from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.

Physical Demands
Performing duties requires seeing, hearing, talking, walking, and using hands and fingers. Frequently required actions include standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, and bending. Occasionally required actions include pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and climbing stairs.
Compensation
Pay Range: $66,064.10 – $108,893.76.
Drug Testing and Background Screening
All admissions nurses must consent to drug and/or alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment and comply with the drug‑free workplace policy. Employees serving Florida affiliates will also undergo background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
