Job summary

Iowa Lutheran Hospital, part of UnityPoint Health, seeks an Outpatient Surgery RN for a Monday–Friday schedule with 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts. No weekends, no holidays, and no call.

You will guide patients through the surgical journey, prepare for procedures, deliver post-operative care, and collaborate with surgeons and teams to ensure safe, efficient care. A $20,000 sign-on bonus is offered for eligible full-time RNs hired between April 1 and October 31, 2026.

Qualifications

• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• Minimum of twelve months acute RN experience.
• RN Residency program required for new graduates or RNs with less than 12 months of acute RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates nursing care to patients using the nursing process.
• Completes documentation to ensure accurate patient records.
• Utilizes critical thinking for independent judgments.
• Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care.
• Assesses needs of patients and families; facilitates discharge planning.

Experience

• Minimum of twelve months acute RN experience.
• All newly licensed RNs or RNs with less than 12 months of acute RN experience and who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health – Des Moines, are required to participate in the RN Residency program.
