Job summary

CHS Children's Hospital and Health System, Inc. is seeking an RN to act as the central communications hub for patient transfer and consultation, coordinating with specialists, medical control, and transport teams at our Milwaukee campus.

The role requires 3+ years as an RN or transport experience as an RCP, with pediatric experience preferred and Epic ASAP/ Rover experience welcomed. On-site, 12-hour night shifts with weekend rotation and competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

Job Overview

The RN in this role will use clinical expertise outside of the bedside in a fast‑paced setting, serving as a central communication source for all aspects of the patient transfer and consultation process, including direct ED/inpatient admissions and critical care transport. The RN facilitates communication with specialty providers, medical control, the transport team, and patient placement, and acts as a resource to community and hospital‑based providers.

Shift & Schedule

Full‑time or part‑time hours available: 24, 30, or 36 per week. 12‑hour night shifts with shift differential and night premium. Weekend rotation on every third weekend. On‑site at the Milwaukee main campus in an office setting.

Compensation

$2,500 sign‑on bonus (available for external candidates only).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Work independently with strong time‑management, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Knowledge of a variety of pediatric healthcare specialties, level of care, symptom identification, and critical‑thinking for triage and management of consult and transport requests.
• Basic proficiency with computers – Microsoft Office, web browsing, document access, and electronic health record systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience as an RN required OR 3+ years transport experience as an RCP required.

Education

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Science preferred.
• Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care required.

Licensure & Certifications

• RN – Registered Nurse or License Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• BLS – Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (required).
• PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (required within 180 days).
