Unit Overview

The Allegheny General 8C Surgical/Trauma Unit is a 43‑bed telemetry unit dedicated to in‑patient postoperative and trauma care. The unit also manages complex urological, abdominal, plastic surgery, and ENT cases, and is committed to patient‑centered, evidence‑based care using advanced monitoring technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to designated patient populations in accordance with the nursing process and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrate clinical assessment skills and plan, implement and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Administer safe and effective nursing interventions and medications.
• Direct and manage the patient care team, ensuring optimal teamwork and communication.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for admission, care planning, and discharge.
• Assess learning needs of patients and families; provide culturally appropriate education based on willingness and readiness to learn.

Qualifications

• Current PA State RN license OR multi‑state licensure via the Nurse Licensure Compact.
