UF Health Leesburg is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care unit to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care to critically ill patients. The role requires strong clinical judgment and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment within a collaborative team of physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals.

You will provide assessments, coordinate care plans, administer medications, and participate in family education and discharge planning.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Critical Care is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN provides safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to achieve optimal clinical outcomes. The Critical Care RN demonstrates strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to respond effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients and develop individualized plans of care.
• Monitor hemodynamic status, cardiac rhythms, respiratory function, and other critical patient indicators.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards of practice.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
• Operate and monitor specialized critical care equipment and technology.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge planning.
• Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes within the electronic medical record.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and evidence‑based nursing practices.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Licensure & Certifications

• Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS).

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year of Critical Care nursing experience.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
