Job Description

The Staff Development Coordinator provides, plans, coordinates, and manages orientation and in-service education for facility employees. The coordinator also takes on the role of the Infection Prevention/Control Coordinator and is responsible for designing systems and approving actions to prevent/control and monitor reports of infections and/or potential infections among residents and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assess learning needs and design in-service and continuing education programs based on quality assurance data to meet needs and regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, communicate, and evaluate an annual training plan.
  • Develop specific teaching plans and programs to cover training needs for all roles on a regular basis.
  • Work with the Director of Nursing to ensure quality care is held to the highest standard and all facility policies and procedures are carried out by every staff member.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing preferred but not required. Background/training in infection control is preferred.
  • Current CPR certificate desired.
