Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Harvey, LA seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join our cardiology team. You will perform and supervise cardiac stress testing, with PET/CT collaboration, and provide holistic nursing care under physician supervision.

You will document findings in the EHR, educate patients and families, and act as a clinical leader within the clinic. The role emphasizes high-quality patient care and professional development.

Qualifications

• Graduate of nursing program with active RN license.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Strong knowledge of EKG interpretation and cardiology procedures.
• Proficient in IV initiation andVenipuncture.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Preferred: advanced cardiology certification and 2 years of critical care experience.

About the Role

• Perform and supervise cardiac stress testing, with the majority of the testing focused on PET/CT scans in collaboration with providers and Nuclear Technologists
• Provide holistic, professional nursing care to cardiology patients under physician supervision
• Support diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures, including stress testing and EKGs
• Serve as a clinical leader and resource within the cardiology clinic setting
• Ensure safe, high-quality patient care in alignment with state nursing regulations and clinical standards

• Assess, monitor, and document patient status, including vital signs, EKGs, and response to stress agents
• Identify and respond to adverse patient reactions and initiate emergency measures when needed
• Educate patients and families on procedures, medications, dietary restrictions, and follow-up care
• Accurately document all patient encounters, treadmill reports, and clinical findings in the EHR
• Act as a liaison among patients, physicians, ancillary staff, and departments to promote coordinated care
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and community outreach efforts
• Uphold ethical decision-making, patient advocacy, and evidence-based cardiology practice

What Makes You a Great Match

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an active, unencumbered RN license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
• Strong knowledge of EKG interpretation, rhythm abnormalities, and cardiology procedures
• Proficient in IV initiation, venipuncture, and medication administration
• Excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Commitment to continuing education and professional development
• Preferred: Advanced cardiology/cardiovascular certification and two years of critical care experience
