POSITION SUMMARY

The Brake Press Operator reads and follows detailed blueprints and schematics to bend sheets of metal. This position requires the lifting of metal sheets into machines to shear and bend to make bodies, hose bed covers, and other parts, as necessary. They must also ensure that bend meets angle grade and other specifications of the build.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

  1. Lifts metal sheets into machines to make bodies, hose bed covers, and other parts, as necessary.
  2. Reads and understands body prints, paper, and CAD.
  3. Ensures that bend meets angle grade and other specifications of the build.
  4. Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as brakes, timesaver, shears, and drill presses.
  5. Loads completed work in opposite order of specifications for the next department in a dedicated cart to be moved.
  6. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to meet the needs of the company and our members.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s):

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Experience operating a brake press required.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools, power tools, and inspection tools preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and technical ability required.
  • 2+ years of experience operating brake press machines preferred.

S

Skills:

Language:

  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
  • Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.

Math:

  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Computer:

  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks, and Adobe/PDFs.
  • Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.

A

Abilities:

  • Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
