Job Description
  • The position is responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining press equipment.
  • Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated, such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections, checking for correct image positioning, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register, etc.
  • Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production runs to meet and maintain quality specifications.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required.
  • Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • The job requires the ability to exert 20 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 lbs. of force, and up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Hours are from 2 pm to 10 pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications
  • Requires thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements, along with the skills to perform assignments effectively.
  • Ability to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, settings, and materials needed to run the job successfully.
  • Skill to make precise adjustments to controls and settings, and perform routine operational maintenance of equipment.
  • Skill in routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate packing pressure needed to obtain proper printing pressure for the type of job being run.
  • Skill in using a micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.

Additional Information

The salary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $21.74 - $31.04 per hour. Starting pay decisions are based on multiple factors, including education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Roles typically follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. In addition to hourly pay, the total compensation may include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and standby pay.
