Job summary

Johnson Controls in Austin, TX seeks an experienced field technician to inspect, install, test and maintain life safety systems. You will work with low voltage wiring, complete service acknowledgments, and follow a strict inspection schedule under supervision.

Required experience includes 5–10 years in sprinkler systems, Texas RME‑I license, and ability to obtain licenses as needed. The role requires physical effort, driving, flexible hours, and travel.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years documented experience in sprinkler systems.
• RME-I license per Texas requirements.
• Able to obtain and retain licenses as required by codes.
• Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specs and manuals.
• Experience with hand tools and multimeter.
• Experience with wet, dry, pre‑action, deluge, and foam systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform repairs.
• Physically capable of lifting 50‑70 lbs.
• Willing to work flexible hours including nights/weekends.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, testing, servicing, installing and preventative maintenance of life safety product lines.
• Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices.
• Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding.
• Maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
• Input, retrieve and archive inspection documentation via laptop.
• Make minor repairs and programming changes under supervision.
• Complete assigned inspections on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
