Job summary

Ingram Barge Co. in Granite City, IL is seeking a Material Handler to safely operate material handlers and assist in loading and unloading cargo at the river terminal. You will help manage inventory and maintain workflow across dock and terminal areas.

The role requires frequent outdoor work, with lifting up to 50 lbs and occasional 75 lbs, plus the ability to operate conveyors and related equipment while adhering to safety regulations. PPE is required; weekends and shift work may be involved.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a warehouse, dock, or terminal environment is a plus.
• Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Operate material handler to load and unload cargo safely.
• Assist loading/unloading cargo from vessels, trucks, and rail cars.
• Operate and maintain terminal equipment such as conveyors and barge-related gear.
• Ensure cargo is properly secured and organized for transport or storage.
• Assist with opening/closing barge cover access doors and related tasks.
• Monitor communications with barge drafter or crane operator.
