Job summary

River Freight in the Chicago area is hiring a full-time Class A driver. You will safely operate a Class 8 tractor on long-haul routes, perform drop-and-hook, and transport freight efficiently to keep schedules.

We offer paid weekly, 48 hours at home every week, 401(k) with company match, and brand-new sleeper cabs. This is a W-2 full-time position with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of Class A tractor-trailer experience.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass DOT physical, background check, and pre-employment drug test.
• No CDL suspensions or revocations in last 5 years.
• Must be able to use GPS and handheld devices.
• Must communicate effectively in English.
• Flexible with day, evening, night and weekend schedules.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Class 8 tractor on long-haul routes.
• Perform drop-and-hook operations.
• Transport freight safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Haul dry vans and intermodal containers.
• Complete scheduled pickups and deliveries.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Follow all DOT, FMCSA and company safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate logs and required documentation.
• Communicate professionally with dispatch and operations.
• Inspect, maintain and care for assigned tractor equipment.
• Represent the company in a professional and safety-focused manner.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum6 months of Class A tractor-trailer experience or semi-truck
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must meet company and DOT MVR requirements
• Must pass DOT physical, background check, and pre-employment drug test
• No CDL suspension or revocation and no failed/refused drug or alcohol tests within the last 5 years, subject to company requirements
• Must be able to use GPS, smartphones, handheld devices, and other technology
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English
• Must be flexible with day, evening, night, and weekend schedules
