Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

At the direction of the designated Manager/Director/VP within the Risk & Insurance Services department, the Risk Specialist supports all insurance and risk mitigation strategies and functions through data management, presentation development, information assimilation and dissemination; Risk Specialists assist with compilation of information required for both reactive and proactive risk and insurance management functions including, leadership reports and information, educational/meeting materials and incident/claim information evaluation, submission and investigation

Essential Job Functions

  • Supports commercial insurance and captive insurance renewal activities at the direction of the Manager/Director/VP and Market/Ministry level to which the Specialist is assigned
  • Manages data and information for utilization by Risk Management and Insurance Leadership in response to or anticipation of Leadership needs and Strategic Objectives.
  • Supports all aspects of data analysis and management
  • Provides reports and information for and at the direction of Risk Management and Insurance Leadership team members.
  • Proactively anticipates and evaluates Insurance information needs for Board and Committee reports, Educational Sessions and meetings, and Risk Investigations
  • Analyzes Event Trends and Claim Data in support of Risk Initiatives/Objectives.
  • Supports data management needs of Risk & Insurance Leadership team
  • Collaborates with staff at all levels in various departments to ensure timely response and collaboration to meet the demands of the Ministry

Associate Degree or comparable experience

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Years and Type of Experience

3+ years in Insurance, Risk Management, Quality, Operations or Administration in a Healthcare or Insurance organization

Previous experience in health care, underwriting or malpractice insurance preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Highly proficient in all Microsoft applications; Excellent organization skills and strong ability to multi-task; Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor; Self-directed/demonstrates initiative

Ability to extract, compile, analyze and develop large amounts of complex data from various sources
