POSITION SUMMARY:

To support, the District employee and student base via training, investigations and recommendations in order to achieve optimal safety and loss prevention goals and initiatives.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education

Associate's degree from an accredited educational institution.

Experience

Minimum three years of verifiable experience, and/or an equivalent combination of education and training with loss prevention, occupational health, and safety programs.

Computer Skills:

Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology, as required for the position. Experience in data entry and Microsoft Suite.

Certificates and/or Licenses

Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and the ability to drive. Possess Florida All Lines Adjuster License or the ability to obtain one once employed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Heat:

The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures are above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.

Indoors/Outdoors:

The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.

Noise:

The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

  • Manifest a professional code of ethics and values at all times.
  • Support activities designed to achieve priority goals identified through the Districts strategic plan.
  • Coordinate, provide and evaluate safety training and initiatives for designated employees.
  • Serve as a resource to school and department staff on matters of safety to assist with solving problems that may interfere with meeting those needs.
  • Communicate with school and department leadership staff to ensure compliance with safety initiatives, implementation of corrective actions, and timely reporting of all safety infractions where applicable.
  • Establish and evaluate loss prevention and safety programs.
  • Provide support to Site Safety Committees to ensure compliance, promote safety education and accident prevention.
  • Serve as a liaison to Site Safety Committees, make recommendations and assist with coordinating site related repairs to prevent hazards and loss exposures.
  • Investigate, report, and monitor accident/incident claims for resolution to include students, visitors, property, theft/burglary, vandalism and general liability.
  • Investigate, report and monitor vehicle accident/incident claims for resolution, to include school buses, white fleet, golf carts and third-party claims.
  • Investigate all claim exposures to determine liability and fiscal impact to the District.
  • Serve as a liaison for claim processing with Third-Party Administrator to ensure proactive measures are taken for timely payments, adequate reserves and file closures.
  • Maintain and update the District Fuel Spill Response Plan.
  • Maintain and update the District Safety and Loss Prevention Program manual.
  • Assist in monitoring, quality control and staff safety training for District playgrounds as it relates to risk exposures and claim management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
