Job summary

Goldman Sachs seeks an Associate level Software Engineer within Capital Risk Engineering to advance a broad risk platform used for large-scale calculations and data delivery. You will join a global team of engineers building tools, platforms, and applications that power risk metrics, with exposure to Java, Python, SQL, Spark, and modern data architectures.

Collaboration with risk managers and business users is essential to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience with risk technology teams in a large bank or financial institution.
• Experience in credit risk management functions and related regulatory deliverables.
• Strong software development foundations including data structures and algorithms.
• Ability to work across multiple languages and adapt to proprietary software when required.
• Experience with distributed computing and web-based risk tooling.

Responsibilities

• Performance tune applications to improve memory and CPU utilization.
• Perform statistical analyses to identify trends in Market Risk metrics.
• Build internal and external reporting for risk outputs using SQL and Tableau.
• Develop front-end UI support for risk management actions.
• Create calculations using Snowflake, Sybase IQ and distributed HDFS systems.
• Interact with business users to resolve issues with applications.
• Design and support batch processes with scheduling infrastructure.
• Oversee junior team members across SDLC including design, code reviews and migrations.
