Job summary

Community Health Care in Tacoma, WA seeks a Risk Manager to lead the organization’s risk management program, ensure patient safety, and support regulatory compliance. The role collaborates with Compliance Officers and Quality Improvement leadership to assess risks, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.

You will prepare reports, educate staff, and participate in safety and accreditation activities to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement across seven clinics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing and 3 years’ risk management/quality improvement experience.
• AA in Nursing with 5 years’ risk management/quality improvement experience.
• Master’s degree in nursing or public health is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads and oversees the organization’s Risk Management Program with assessments and mitigation.
• Investigates incidents, conducts root cause analyses, and ensures corrective actions.
• Tracks risk trends and reports outcomes to leadership and Risk Management Committee.
• Collaborates with leadership to identify safety and regulatory risks and implement actions.
• Monitors compliance with patient safety, HIPAA/privacy, OSHA/WISHA, and accreditation standards.
• Provides staff training on risk, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Under the direction of the Compliance Officer, the Risk Manager collaborates with the Compliance Officer and Quality Improvement leadership to oversee the organization's risk management program. This position is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating organizational risks related to patient safety, regulatory compliance, privacy, workplace safety, and operational performance. The Risk Manager serves as a key resource in incident investigation, risk prevention, policy development, staff education, and regulatory compliance activities, while working closely with leadership and regulatory agencies to promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Essential functions (but not limited to):Leads and oversees the organization's Risk Management Program, including risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and performance monitoring.Reviews incident reports, conducts investigations and root cause analyses, and ensures corrective actions are implemented.Tracks, analyzes, and reports risk management trends and outcomes to leadership and the Risk Management Committee.Collaborates with leadership to identify, investigate, and resolve safety concerns and operational risks.Monitors compliance with patient safety, infection control, OSHA/WISHA, L&I, and other regulatory requirements.Conducts environmental, safety, and compliance audits and recommends corrective actions when needed.Reviews clinical tracking and after-hours call reports to ensure adherence to clinical standards and follow-up requirements.Prepares risk management, safety, and regulatory compliance reports for leadership and committees.Facilitates Safety Committee meetings and supports organizational Quality Improvement initiatives.Assists with the development, review, and revision of clinical and administrative policies and procedures.Supports compliance with AAAHC, HRSA, FTCA, PCMH, Medicare, and other accreditation and regulatory standards.Participates in HIPAA breach investigations, privacy reviews, and required notification processes.Provides risk management, safety, compliance, and regulatory training to staff and supports new employee orientation.Serves as a liaison with public health authorities and other external regulatory agencies as needed.Performs other duties as assigned in support of organizational safety, quality, and compliance objectives.Minimum requirements:Bachelor’s degree in nursing with 3 years’ experience OR AA in Nursing with 5 years’ experience in risk management, quality improvement, or community health.Clinical, supervisory, and administrative experience.Current CPR.Current Washington State RN Licensure.Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for the above requirements.Preferred qualifications:Master’s degree in nursing, Public Health, or related field.Community Health experience.Managed care experience.Bilingual capacity.We encourage anyone with a relevant combination of education and experience to apply.
