Responsibilities

• Manages the day to day operations of hospital risk management and patient advocacy.
• Effectively manages the reporting system with risk staff.
• Provides consultation services to medical staff, department managers, and organization personnel through individual meetings and committee participation with respect to patient safety and risk management.
• Provides education sessions as needed.
• Manages and mentors subordinate personnel in support of the hospital and department goals to foster their growth and development.
• Oversees the processes for analysis, investigation, representation and negotiation of complaints and events.
• Coordinates and collaborates with the Quality manager to facilitate the patient safety activities throughout the organization and in key hospital committees such as the Quality Improvement Patient Safety Council.
• Directs the preparation of reports and case summaries.
• Communicates and collaborates with the Manager of Quality in the areas of data and information management, performance improvement, patient safety, and risk management.
• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to know the latest trends and issues pertaining to patient safety and risk management.
