In cooperation with the Office of Risk Management (ORM), the incumbent provides technical risk management leadership to the agency in the identification and responseto risk exposures, appropriate loss control measures and administrative guidance in the review and evaluation of risk management issues. Serves as the liaison with law enforcement and the ORM to facilitate and promote agency compliance regarding sensitive or regulatory matters. Advocates for effective risk management and safety throughout the agency; manages the risk identification and loss control activities for property, casualty and workers' compensation exposures. Identifies and evaluates agency property and facilities for characteristics and valuation of exposure to loss and analysis of risks and develops risk control plans for anticipated losses.
Serves as the designated Sexual Harassment Officer (SHO) for the agency, and coordinates and completes the required investigations. The incumbent writes reports in accordance with District policy and procedures. Participates as an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) counselor and investigates claims related to EEO complaints. Coordinates the DC Health Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) reasonable accommodation request process and facilitates the interactive process discussion as required by law. The incumbent completes the intake process, secures medical information and works with legal and administration points of contact to ensure that approved accommodations are purchased (if required) and put into place promptly. As the agency liaison to ORM, the incumbent assists employees with claim applications relative to occupational injuries, illnesses, exposures or vehicular accidents and tracks light duty personnel through their recovery or rehabilitation. The incumbent provides assistance, as necessary, to ensure prompt filing of claims and compensation. Serves as point of contact for any needed assistance including return to work forms, change in work status periodic updates, etc.; and works with the agency leave coordinator to ensure that approved workman's compensation claims are tracked for time and attendance.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must be equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression.
