Job summary

Ryan Companies US, Inc. in Minneapolis seeks an Insurance & Risk Manager to review insurance requirements in contracts, manage claims across construction and development projects, and assist OCIP/CCIP programs.

The role supports bonding and subcontractor enrollments while ensuring compliance with industry standards. Qualified candidates have a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years in construction risk management or corporate insurance compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in construction risk management, commercial P&C insurance, or corporate insurance compliance.
  • Familiarity with standard construction contracts, OSHA basics, and standard insurance lines (General Liability, Workers' Comp, Builder's Risk, Umbrella, CCIP/OCIP).
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel), construction management or payment software, and RMIS platforms.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication; detail-oriented with ability to audit policies and maintain complex risk docs.

Responsibilities

  • Review insurance requirements within contracts (including DBIA and AIA forms, construction and development agreements, master agreements, and loan documents).
  • Claims Management - partner with brokers and legal to initiate, process and track insurance claims for construction, development and operation of various CRE projects.
  • Review insurance requirements within construction agreements (including DBIA and AIA forms, bid documentation, master agreements, and subcontracts).
  • Assist in the administration of OCIP, CCIP, Builder's risk and subcontractor default insurance programs.
  • Issue COIs to owners/lenders including endorsements.
  • Analyze subcontractors' COIs for compliance and escalate discrepancies.
  • Manage subcontractor enrollments.
  • Support surety and bonding processes.

Job Description
  • Review insurance requirements within contracts (including DBIA and AIA forms, construction and development agreements, master agreements, and loan documents).
  • Claims Management - partner with insurance brokers and legal team to initiate, process and track insurance claims for all insurance coverage related to the construction, development and operation of various commercial real estate projects, including automobile, personal injury, property damage, professional liability and builder's risk claims.
  • Review insurance requirements within construction agreements (including DBIA and AIA forms, bid documentation, master agreements, and subcontracts).
  • Assist in the administration of Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP) Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIP), Builder's risk and subcontractor default insurance programs.
  • Issue Certificates of Insurance (COIs) to owners/lenders including applicable endorsements.
  • Analyze subcontractors' COIs for strict compliance with contract requirements and non-compliant coverage and escalates discrepancies.
  • Manage subcontractor enrollments.
  • Support surety and bonding processes.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in preferred
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in construction risk management,commercial P&C insurance, or corporate insurance compliance.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with standard construction contracts, basic OSHA regulations, and standard insurance lines (General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Builder's Risk, Umbrella, CCIP/OCIP).
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel), construction management or payment software, and RMIS platforms.
  • Communication and Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to confidently explain complex insurance requirements to stakeholders. Strong attention to detail with the ability to audit policies and maintain complex legal/risk documentation.
Compensation

The salary range is $70,000 - $75,000. The salary base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities.
