Job summary

Nomura is seeking an Executive Director to lead Risk & Governance. The role focuses on establishing global governance committees, developing asset management risk frameworks, and driving risk education across US and EU teams.

You will guide strategic initiatives, support change management, and mentor a geographically dispersed staff to strengthen risk culture and governance across the organization. The role offers exposure to multi-jurisdictional governance and a competitive compensation

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in risk management and governance within asset management
  • Deep understanding of global asset management risk frameworks and regulatory environment
  • Proven track record implementing governance structures in complex organizations
  • Ability to develop and contribute thought leadership in risk insights
  • Strong leadership and people management with geographically dispersed teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

Responsibilities

  • Establish and administer global governance committees across NAM International promoting proactive governance and oversight and aligning approval policies and practices
  • Develop and maintain asset management risk frameworks and procedures and ensure alignment with risk standards
  • Lead risk education and awareness programs and promote business engagement and ownership of risk management
  • Provide guidance on strategic initiatives, product design, change management, and business integration efforts
  • Support team initiatives to improve ways of working, operating optimization and drive innovative practices
  • Oversee regional risk support and collaborate with second and third line teams on governance and framework reviews
  • Design and implement risk culture initiatives
  • Supervise and mentor staff across US and EU locations

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $220,000 and $240,000 per year* (see below for additional compensation and benefits information).

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and administer global corporate governance committees across NAM International promoting proactive governance and oversight and aligning approval policies and practices
  • Develop and maintain asset management risk frameworks and procedures; ensure alignment with broader corporate risk standards
  • Lead risk education and awareness programs; promote business engagement and ownership of risk management
  • Provide guidance on strategic initiatives, product design, change management, and business integration efforts
  • Support team initiatives to improve ways of working, operating optimization and drive innovative practices
  • Oversee regional risk support and collaborate with second and third line teams on governance and framework reviews
  • Design and implement risk culture initiatives
  • Supervise and mentor staff members across US and EU locations

  • Deep understanding of global asset management risk frameworks, business control environments, and regulatory environment

  • Strong leadership and people management skills with experience managing geographically dispersed teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

Compensation & Benefits

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign‑on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
