Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Represent NLACRC at quarterly statewide Risk Management, Assessment and Planning (RMAP) meetings with DDS and other Regional Centers.
• Facilitate internal RMAP meetings and cross-departmental work groups to ensure regulatory compliance and standard practices.
• Develop and monitor Risk Management & Mitigation Plan to meet DDS requirements and ensure timely compliance.
• Coordinate and monitor special incident reports, 30‑day reporting/outcomes, and Medi‑Cal claim reports.
• Coordinate with licensing, protective services, and law enforcement on investigations; advise staff on complex risk issues.
• Supervise SIR follow-up, staff training, and RA program documentation; analyze trends for training needs.
• Select, train, direct, and evaluate assigned staff.
• Represent the unit in risk management communications with DDS, service providers and other agencies.

RISK ASSESSOR SUPERVISOR

SCOPE: Plans, coordinates and directs the Risk Assessment program.

SUPERVISION: Receives policy direction from the Contract Administrator. Provides general supervision to assigned Specialists and support staff.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (These are examples of the types of duties that may be performed. Additional duties may be added.)

• Takes responsibility to represent the agency at quarterly statewide Risk Management, Assessment and Planning (RMAP) meetings with Mission Analytics, the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), and the other Regional Centers across the state.
• Facilitate internal RMAP meetings to ensure that the agency meets regulatory requirements and DDS standards. Facilitate work groups with various departments within the agency to develop standard practices for staff to utilize when receiving various types of special incident reports, to include establishing internal processes and systems of support for the Risk Assessment unit in order to best support Case Management in meeting regulatory requirements.
• Works independently and interdepartmentally to develop a Risk Management & Mitigation Plan which meets DDS requirements. Monitors and evaluates the performance of plan components, ensures timely compliance, adjusts plan as necessary.
• Responsible for the tracking and monitoring of timely completion of special incident reports and closing 30-day reporting/outcomes, as well as agency compliance with Medi-Cal claim reports.
• Ensures coordination and communication with licensing, protective services, and law enforcement agencies relative to investigations. Consults with staff on complex risk assessment issues.
• Supervises SIR follow-up, internal staff and vendor training, and RA program documentation. Reviews SIRs to identify trends and patterns and develops management reports. Identifies Risk Mitigation planning needs and appropriately follows up with staff and teams to monitor follow up and identify trends for training purposes.
• Selects, trains, directs, and evaluates assigned staff.
• Represents the unit and/or agency in risk management related communications and collaboration with DDS, service providers, as well as other community and government agencies.

EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:

Knowledge: Developmental disabilities, case management, DDS regulations, Lanterman Act, service standards, administrative and direct service provision, quality assurance methods, Regional Center's internal and/or community programs; electronic records management; principles of management and supervision.

Skills: New program development/training, interpretation of regulatory requirements, special incident investigation, information analysis and report development.

Education & Experience: Any combination equivalent to or likely to provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and skills would be a B.A. in a related field, plus five years of related professional experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for three years of experience.

A valid California Driver's License and transportation, or acceptable substitute, is required for this position.

Compensation:

This is an exempt position salary range is $87,660.98 - $118,342.34.
