Job description

Position Summary

The Risk and Compliance Analyst supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of the risk management and compliance programs within the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This role ensures adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., HRSA, HIPAA, OSHA, OIG, CMS, DOH) and internal policies, supports audits, manages incident reporting, and helps mitigate legal and regulatory risk exposure.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and knowledgeable about healthcare operations and compliance frameworks in a community health center setting.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct routine compliance risk assessments to identify potential areas of vulnerability and risk.
  2. Assist with development, implementation, and updating of compliance policies, procedures, and training materials.
  3. Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local regulations relevant to FQHC operations (e.g., HRSA guidelines, HIPAA, 340B, UDS, FTCA).
  4. Support internal audits and coordinate external audits, including documentation gathering and response to findings.
  5. Track and analyze incidents, patient safety reports, and risk events; assist with root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
  6. Maintain and update the compliance and risk register, ensuring timely reporting and documentation.
  7. Assist in preparing reports for the Compliance Committee and Board of Directors.
  8. Monitor exclusion databases to ensure workforce compliance.
  9. Support workforce training and education on compliance topics such as HIPAA, fraud, waste, abuse, and safety.
  10. Collaborate with departments across the organization to implement risk-reduction strategies.
  11. Assist with the administration of the organization's whistleblower and incident reporting system.
  12. Stay current with industry best practices and changes in the regulatory landscape affecting FQHCs.
  13. Perform other duties related to Risk and Compliance as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Compliance, Risk Management, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare compliance, risk management, or quality assurance role.
  3. Strong knowledge of FQHC regulations, including HRSA, HIPAA, and other federal/state healthcare compliance requirements.
  4. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  6. Must be mobile and able to travel to all locations (Queens and Brooklyn).
