The Opportunity

We are seeking a Risk Analyst II who can produce high-quality work while operating in a chief of staff role. The ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling them to present complex issues clearly to management. They will develop presentation materials with great care and attention to detail, ensuring that the content is effectively communicated to senior leaders. Accuracy and timeliness are essential, as the deliverables must meet the high standards encouraged in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, the Risk Analyst II will support Shared Services Risk across various partner organizations, helping to guide business decisions for better outcomes. The candidate should have experience synthesizing information from multiple sources to build compelling arguments for senior leadership presentations. Additionally, they will help ensure team meetings are efficient and productive, improving discussions and growing manager capacity. Coordination of employee recognition and engagement initiatives will be important, requiring a strong understanding of risk principles to develop a positive workplace culture.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: Charlotte, NC or San Antonio, TX.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Partners with key customers in the business to identify, assess, aggregate and document risks and controls, including risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, regulations and third-party operations using maturing knowledge.
  • Assists in presenting results of risk assessments to governance committees, business process owners and various levels of leadership.
  • Supports the implementation of new risk policies, practices, appetites and solutions to ensure comprehensive understanding and management of risks according to industry standard process.
  • Supports processes that focus on enhancing strategies, tools, and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report risks.
  • Applies maturing knowledge to participate in producing analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand business objectives and influence solution strategies.
  • Contributes in cross-functional teams to identify, assess, aggregate and mitigate current and emerging risk events.
  • Assists in the formulation of stress test plans for a line of business or the enterprise including the evaluation of results and framing of contingency plans in partnership with key business partners.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • 2 years of risk management, regulatory or operations experience in a relevant functional area to include banking, insurance, financial services, audit, project management, public accounting or other related operational area.
  • Or advanced degree/designation in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or other subject area relevant to risk management.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles, tools and applicable systems.
  • Risk management experience related to banking, insurance and/or financial services.
  • Ability to work with internal and external partners in a collaborative environment.
  • Working skills using data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Extensive writing experience to include critical elements of effective and efficient written communication. Skills especially of use when resolving a concise and appealing presentation or deliverable format for the appropriate audience.
  • Provide broad support for Shared Services Risk across multiple partner organizations and effectively influence business decisions to optimize results. Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources in order to build successful reasons used for senior leadership presentations.
  • Ensure efficiency and effectiveness of team meetings to enable more productive discussions and supply to increased manager capacity.
  • Coordination and support of employee recognition and employee engagement
  • Strong understanding of risk principles
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $69,920 - $133,620.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
