About Payments:

Maverick Payments is a family-owned and privately held full-service payment provider. Located in Calabasas, California, Maverick has created innovative technology designed for sales organizations, such as ISO’s and ISV’s, looking to monetize payments by reselling our white-labeled payments stack. Our payment products include merchant acquiring services, a proprietary gateway, ACH processing, fraud & chargeback tools, analytics, and other value-add services. Maverick’s team includes underwriting, risk management, compliance & legal, technology & product development, onboarding, customer support, information technology, and more.

About the Position:

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Risk & Underwriting, the Risk Analyst II is responsible for overseeing merchant accounts to identify, investigate, and mitigate activity that presents financial risk to the Company based on company guidelines. The Risk Analyst supports the Risk department’s function in protecting the Company against the risk of loss associated with providing products/services to customers.

• Conduct daily, weekly, monthly reviews of merchant activity to analyze increased credit risk, transactional variations, dispute activity, and fraud patterns.
• Proactively monitor all merchant activities for compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
• Investigate abnormal processing patterns and recommend appropriate actions.
• Review and analyze financial, credit, and publicly available information to support decisions.
• Assess and evaluate business model risk and exposure by analyzing merchant industry type, processing volume, refunds volume, delivery time frames, and disputes.
• Analyze risk files of multiple high-risk verticals to evaluate, investigate, and determine actions.
• Answer internal and external inquiries related to risk.

Qualifications:

• Experience with high-risk payment processing preferred.
• Knowledge of Card Brand rules and regulations required.
• Prior experience with Aperia risk monitoring tool, Vigilance, is required.
• High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in Risk Management within the acquiring industry.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with underwriting and due diligence tools (e.g., Equifax, TIN Check, Aperia, Vigilance, MATCH, GIACT, Merlink).
• Familiar with systems used by Fiserv and REPAY.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of emerging technologies and trends in payments and their risks.
• Strong time management and analytical skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and produce high-quality work.

Pay Range: $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
