Job summary

Cherry Bekaert is seeking an Internal Audit Associate (Financial/Operations) to join its Risk Advisory Services. You will engage in internal audit and risk advisory engagements for financial institution clients, evaluating controls, conducting risk assessments, and delivering value through client-focused advisory work.

You will collaborate with seasoned professionals, build client relationships, and manage projects across lending, liquidity, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business discipline.
• CIA, CFSA, CBA, CPA or CFE certifications encouraged.
• 1+ years of experience in professional services, internal audit, banking, or credit union environments.
• Knowledge of federal and state banking regulations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building capabilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business technologies.
• Willingness to travel to client sites up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Work with a collaborative team to execute internal audit and risk advisory engagements for financial institution clients.
• Assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls across financial, operational, and regulatory functions.
• Perform risk assessments and reviews to identify opportunities for improved controls, efficiency, and compliance.
• Monitor engagement progress, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering valuable insights and exceptional service.
• Support audits and advisory projects across Lending, Deposits, ALM/IRR/Liquidity, Investments/Borrowings, ACL, Accounting & Financial Reporting, Trust Operations, Regulatory Compliance, FDICIA and SOX.
