Job summary

Cherry Bekaert is seeking an Internal Audit Associate (Financial/Operations) to join the Risk Advisory Services practice in a hybrid, client-facing role. You will contribute to internal audit engagements for financial institutions, assess controls, and help drive regulatory compliance and process improvements.

You will collaborate with experts, develop risk-based recommendations, and engage with clients across lending, deposits, ALM/IRR, investments, and regulatory areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline.
• Progress toward or completion of CIA, CFSA, CBA, CPA, or CFE.
• 1+ years of experience in professional services, internal audit, banking, or credit union environments.
• Knowledge of federal and state banking regulations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building capabilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business technologies.
• Willingness to travel to client sites, not to exceed 25%.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside a collaborative team to execute internal audit and risk advisory engagements for financial institution clients.
• Assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls across financial, operational, and regulatory functions.
• Perform risk assessments and reviews to identify opportunities for improved controls, efficiency, and compliance.
• Monitor engagement progress, helping ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering valuable insights and exceptional service.
