Job summary

Vanguard Global Risk and Security seeks a Divisional Risk Advisor, Senior Specialist to lead risk oversight for Self-Directed client initiatives within Personal Wealth. You will provide independent risk guidance, challenge leadership, and partner with enterprise teams to manage risk across servicing, operations, and related capabilities.

You will influence risk-based decisions, support product and process development, and promote continuous improvement in risk practices within a hybrid work

Qualifications

• Minimum of ten years related work experience.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
• Strong conceptual and strategic thinking skills.
• Strong ability to influence and persuade up, down, and across.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and strategic risk guidance and independent challenge to Personal Wealth leaders.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize risks; advise on mitigation, controls, and effectiveness.
• Lead development and execution of risk strategies aligned with priorities and Vanguard's overall risk strategy.
• Partner with business teams during product, service, and initiative development to ensure risks are understood and managed.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the risk and control environment and recommend enhancements.
• Provide analytical support and facilitation to divisional leadership for risk-based decision-making.
• Develop strong relationships with enterprise and divisional leaders as a trusted risk advisor and promote best practices.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

The Divisional Risk Advisor, Senior Specialist leads risk oversight for a critical portfolio of projects, initiatives, and functions supporting Self-Directed clients within the Personal Wealth division. This role provides independent risk guidance, oversight, and challenge across key Self-Directed client functions, including servicing, operations, and specialty capabilities, partnering closely with senior leaders to support strategic priorities, operational resilience, and effective risk management. The role partners closely with business leaders, advises on emerging and existing risks, influences risk-based decision-making, and helps ensure the effective design and implementation of controls. Success requires deep risk management expertise, strong execution discipline, strategic thinking, and the ability to translate complex risks into practical business solutions.

Risk Advisory Analyst, Senior Specialist

• Provide operational and strategic risk guidance, oversight, and independent challenge to Personal Wealth leaders and enterprise partners, consistent with Vanguard's risk management framework.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize existing and emerging risks, advising business partners on appropriate mitigation strategies, control design, and control effectiveness.
• Lead and support the development and execution of risk management strategies that align with business objectives, departmental priorities, and Vanguard's overall risk strategy.
• Partner with business teams during the development and implementation of new products, services, processes, and initiatives to ensure risks are understood and effectively managed.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the business's risk and control environment, leveraging industry practices and risk management expertise to recommend enhancements where appropriate.
• Provide analytical support, consultation, and facilitation to divisional leadership to enable informed, risk-based decision-making.
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with enterprise and divisional leaders, serving as a trusted risk advisor who provides effective challenge and influences risk-informed decision-making across strategic, operational, and client-facing initiatives.
• Promote effective risk management practices and continuous improvement, establishing measurable objectives and helping improve the quality and effectiveness of risk management activities across the business.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
