Job summary

AdventHealth in Maitland, Florida seeks a Clinical Coding Specialist to translate patient data into accurate ICD-10 codes for outpatient encounters, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations. You will work with educators to clarify documentation and maintain coding accuracy to reflect illness severity.

The role requires CCS or CPC certification, strong communication with healthcare providers, and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• High level interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with physicians and providers.
• Basic MS Office knowledge (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

Responsibilities

• Follow HIPAA protocol and state/federal guidelines.
• Translate chronic conditions into accurate ICD-10 codes for outpatient encounters.
• Extract data for Health Plan reports and input data from HCC programs.
• Assign ICD-10 codes that document patient conditions and comply with coding guidelines.
• Collaborate with documentation educators to ensure coding reflects illness severity.
• Maintain productivity and accuracy metrics as defined by policy.
• Perform chart reviews and physician queries for coding clarification per policy.

Job Description:

Follow HIPAA protocol and comply with state and federal guidelines. Other duties as assigned. Reviews and accurately translates chronic conditions into appropriate diagnosis codes from outpatient encounters. Extracts data for Health Plan reports and inputs data collected from HCC programs. Assign appropriate ICD-10- codes to document and accurately represent the patient’s conditions and ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations. Work closely with coding and documentation educator to clarify documentation and ensure coding reflects the severity of illnesses and chronic conditions. Ensures compliance with coding standards and guidelines. Meet and maintain productivity and accuracy metrics and standards, as defined. Performs concurrent chart review process and perform physician queries for coding and documentation clarification following the query policy and procedure standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
