Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking helpers to support iron workers in setting up hoisting equipment, placing structural steel, and performing basic rigging and welding tasks. A minimum of 6 months field experience is preferred, with the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 6 months documented field experience in chosen craft.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation.
• Work within precise limits to standards of accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist journeyman level iron workers in daily tasks such as setting up hoisting equipment and placing structural-steel members.
• Fasten steel members to cable of hoist using chain, cable or rope.
• Signal hoisting operator to lift and place steel members.
• Guide members into position using tag lines; pull, push or pry to final position.
• Align bolt holes; verify vertical and horizontal alignment.
• Cut and weld steel members to make alterations.
• Load, transport, unload materials and equipment; assist in lifting and securing of materials.
• Observe safety rules and wear personal protective equipment.
