Qualifications

  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in a post-high school education program in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Professional Writing, Business Administration, or Marketing.
  • Preference given to Juniors/Seniors with GPA 3.0+ Overall or 3.5 Program GPA.
  • 0+ years of professional experience in the required task area.
  • Basic understanding of written communication, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and document organization.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word; familiarity with Track Changes, comments, and document formatting preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat preferred.
  • Ability to review written material for consistency, clarity, formatting, and grammatical accuracy.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software, processes, and document standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop familiarity with KIHOMAC proposal development processes, templates, writing standards, and document-control practices.
  • Support the Proposal Manager and proposal team with proofreading and copy editing of proposals, responses to solicitations, presentations, marketing materials, and other business development documents.
  • Review documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, readability, formatting, and adherence to established style guidelines.
  • Assist with checking document consistency, including headings, acronyms, terminology, numbering, cross-references, tables, figures, and captions.
  • Assist with formatting and preparing Word and PowerPoint documents using templates and styles.
  • Learn to distinguish between copy editing, substantive editing, and changes requiring approval.
  • Assist with maintaining document version control and incorporating comments and revisions from multiple contributors.
  • Participate in proposal reviews and learn basic stages of Government contracting proposal development.
  • Assist with final document quality-control reviews prior to submission or publication.
  • Work collaboratively with proposal writers, technical SMEs, Business Development personnel, and others.
  • Develop ability to identify unclear content and raise questions rather than changing technical meaning.
  • Protect proprietary, competition-sensitive, and customer information.
  • Accept coaching and editorial feedback and demonstrate progressive improvement.
  • Assist with department administrative duties to learn the work and contribute to workload.
  • Interns will work 15–25 hours per week; summer interns typically work 40 hours per week.
  • This position will work on-site at the KIHOMAC Byron, Georgia facility
  • Other duties as assigned.
