Job summary

GDIT seeks a Network Security Engineer Junior for CBP's Cyber Security Directorate, supporting 24/7/365 Security Operations Center activities and threat defense across enterprise networks.

You'll work on firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, NAC, and security policy development, collaborating with IT and security teams to strengthen the organization's defensive posture in a fast-paced federal environment in Ashburn, VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in cybersecurity or related field, plus 3+ years' hands-on network or security engineering experience.
• Experience with enterprise-grade firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and NAC tools.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain network security technologies including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and NAC.
• Analyze network security architectures to mitigate threats, vulnerabilities, and emerging risks.
• Monitor security events, investigate anomalies or incidents, and recommend corrective actions.
• Implement security enhancements to strengthen the organization’s defensive posture.
• Develop, document, and maintain network security policies, procedures, and standards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable security frameworks, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
• Collaborate with IT, security operations, and infrastructure teams to support secure network design and operations.
