Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program.
• Experience: None.
• Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.
• Other Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records. For Behavioral Health roles, de-escalation training must be completed within 1 year of hire and maintained. For OB/GYN roles, EFM NCC certification required per department policy.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimum patient outcomes.
• Collaborates with health care team/patient/family to develop, implement, and evaluate interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Administers treatments and medications for patients and documents utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
• Identifies patient/family educational needs and incorporates into care plan.
• Contributes to Carilion Clinic’s performance improvement activities.
• Supports the patient as advocate and provider of psychosocial support.
• Orients new employees and provides feedback to staff.
