Job summary

School District 197 is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for the RISE Program at Moreland Arts and Health Sciences Magnet School in Minnesota. You will assist teachers and support students with diverse needs in both special and regular classrooms.

Qualifications

• Two year degree or passing The Parapro Assessment.
• PCA training will be provided.
• Ability to work as a team member with staff and parents.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and support student weight.
• Experience with individuals with disabilities and behavioral challenges.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in devising strategies for reinforcing skills.
• Intercultural competence to support students from diverse backgrounds.
• Understand students' needs, interests and abilities.
• Guide independent study and remedial work set up by teachers.
• Assist with large group activities such as drill work and reading aloud.
• Assist and supervise wash-up/toilet routines including lifting transfers.
• Assist and supervise students to/from bus and building as needed.
• Carry out behavior management techniques as instructed by the teacher.
• Complete clerical tasks related to assigned students.
• Other duties as assigned.
