Job summary

Parker Hannifin is seeking a Wire Wind Operator in Alliance, NE. You will operate and set up wire winders, thread equipment, and ensure proper material identification and quality documentation.

The role requires basic math, reading, and writing skills, plus strong mechanical aptitude and teamwork. Training will be provided; safety and Lean initiatives are emphasized in daily tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Operate wire wind machines and set up/rethread wire winders.
  • Identify raw materials and understand material numbers.
  • Adjust settings on counters for efficient bobbin footage.
  • Know wire construction for hoses being braided and set traverse.
  • Operate wire stripper and other winders; identify and report defects.
  • Complete required paperwork daily and document non-conforming product.
  • Train new employees as needed.
  • Pull catenaries and report issues to Value Stream Team Lead.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing/5-S programs.
  • Work safely per regulations and report unsafe conditions.
  • Assist with maintenance to resolve equipment issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Value Stream Team Lead.
  • Ensure safe operation and minimize waste of product and components.

Job description

Responsible for operating the wire wind machines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Know how to set up and rethread wire winders.
2. Know color coding for identification.
3. Identify raw materials.
4. Familiarization with raw material numbers.
5. Understand and ability to adjust settings on counters for efficient bobbin footage.
6. Know correct wire construction for hoses being braided.
7. Ability to set traverse.
8. Understand and ability to operate wire stripper.
9. Understand and ability to operate all wire winders.
10. Identify and eliminate known defects.
11. Document good and non-conforming product.
12. Correctly fill out required paperwork daily.
13. Train new employees as needed.
14. Pull catenaries.
15. Detect and report problem areas or unusual conditions to the Value Stream Team Lead.
16. Perform related and other duties assigned by the Value Stream Team Lead.

Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.

Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.

Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.

Other duties may be assigned later.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education required/ preferred:

High School diploma or GED

Experience:

Production work preferred but not required

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Basic knowledge and use of hand tools

Sound decision making skills

Good math, reading, writing skills

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

Mental and visual acuity for production of quality product

Strong trouble shooting skills

Standing is required for extended periods of time. Bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and grasping are done on a frequent basis. Climbing, carrying, stooping, kneeling, and lifting overhead are performed on an occasional basis.

Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.

Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
