Job summary

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza seeks a Rights & Reproductions Coordinator to manage copyright, permissions, licensing and reproduction requests related to the Museum’s collections and institutional assets. Reporting to the Head of Collections & Registration, you will serve as the primary contact for individuals and organizations seeking permission to reproduce Museum materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, library science, museum studies or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Three or more years of experience related to copyright, licensing, rights management, reproduction or intellectual property administration.
  • Knowledge of copyright law, fair use, permissions, licensing practices and IP standards as they relate to museums or cultural collections.
  • Experience researching rights, reviewing documentation and managing agreements or contracts.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests, deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when working with sensitive or restricted materials.

Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming rights, reproduction, permission and licensing requests for Museum collection materials and institutional assets.
  • Research and document copyright ownership, usage rights, restrictions and intellectual property status.
  • Prepare and administer licensing agreements, permissions, contract and related documentation.
  • Coordinate image, audiovisual and other reproduction requirements for Museum publications, exhibitions, media and educational projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of licenses, agreements, permissions, fees, expirations and correspondence.
  • Track payments and revenue associated with licensing and reproduction activities.
  • Conduct copyright research to clarify ownership, restrictions and permitted uses of collection materials.
  • Review proposed uses and identify legal, ethical, contractual or reputational considerations that may require additional review.
  • Collaborate with Museum leadership on sensitive, restricted or high-profile requests.
  • Help develop and maintain rights and reproduction policies, procedures, fee structure and documentation.
  • Stay current on copyright law, fair use, licensing practices and emerging issues affecting museums, archives and digital collections.
  • Partner with the Registrar, Archivist and Digital Preservation Archivist to ensure rights information is accurately documented and connected to collection records.
  • Work across departments to support exhibitions, publications, educational programs, marketing initiatives and other projects requiring collection content.
  • Provide guidance to Museum staff on copyright, permissions, licensing restrictions and appropriate use of collection materials.
  • Support grant-funded and collections-based projects requiring copyright review or rights assessment.
