Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Salem is seeking a Project Surveyor – Right of Way Engineering to support and promote standards for right of way mapping and legal descriptions for conveyance documents.

As part of the Delivery & Operations Division, you will collaborate with agency staff, regional teams, and the public to ensure drawings and property descriptions meet state laws and professional standards while helping manage complex surveys and acquisitions.

Qualifications

• A valid professional land surveyor (PLS) license is required.
• Driving is an essential function; a valid U.S. driver license and acceptable driving record are required.
• Ability to operate CAD/BIM tools and geospatial mapping software as part of daily duties.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with agency staff to determine maps, limits of work, and delivery dates.
• Make determinations regarding width and alignment of the right of way.
• Advise agencies and the public on property rights locations and extents.
• Train staff and consultants on division standards for right of way mapping and legal descriptions.
• Prepare and oversee complex right of way surveys, acquisitions, and related drawings.
