Job summary

DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY is seeking a Rigging Worker (Forklift Operator) to support lifting, rigging, and moving heavy loads at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor, and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility.

Applicants must meet security and pre-employment requirements, pass a drug test if applicable, and be willing to travel to CONUS/OCONUS sites.

Qualifications

  • Experience with rigging and lifting operations.
  • Forklift operation and safety training recommended.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist journeyman riggers in rigging up hoisting and pulling gear for lifting, moving, and positioning heavy loads.
  • Fabricate, install, and repair standing and running rigging, wire and fiber rope items such as slings, towing bridles, nets, and other ship rigging.
  • Operate electric, gasoline, or diesel powered forklift trucks capable of lifting 10,000 pounds or more and travel across various terrains and aisles.
