Job summary

MEI Industrial Solutions is seeking a Working Foreman to supervise machinery-moving crews on pharmaceutical projects in North East, MD. Typical hours run 6:30 AM–4:30 PM with travel as required and per diem provided for overnight stays outside the local area.

The role requires hands-on leadership in rigging, crane-free machinery moves, and close coordination with safety and field teams to deliver high-quality results.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Proven machinery moving foreman experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Own hand tools required.
• Experience moving machinery with forklift, skating, leveling and anchoring.
• DOT medical card required or obtainable on hire.

Responsibilities

• Manage rigging crew on the job site and oversee activities.
• Develop crew schedules aligned with customer needs and sales guidance.
• Direct workforce to meet volume, cost, quality, safety and schedule goals.
• Supervise machinery moving crews and operate related equipment.
• Train crews in rigging operations and safety procedures.
• Coordinate with safety personnel on training, investigations and reporting.
• Build strong relationships with customers and partners.
• Organize and maintain project information for accuracy.
• Travel to customer sites and direct on-site activities.

Position Summary

The rigging foreman position is responsible for all rigging activities that take place on assigned job site.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for all job site management activities of the rigging crew.
• Develops, plans and implements crew schedules in alignment with the customer and sales personnel with direction of the job.
• Directs workforce to meet operational goals in terms of volume, cost, quality, safety and schedule.
• Directly supervises and works with one or more machinery moving crews.
• Working foreman role with the ability to effectively move machinery utilizing forklifts, skates and jacks (not cranes).
• Develop, train and instruct machinery moving crews in best known rigging operation practices and procedures including safety.
• Work closely with safety personnel in coordinating safety training, accident and injury investigations and reporting and equipment or property damage incidents investigations and reporting.
• Build customer and employee relationships with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Develop highly effective relationships with customers, business partners, crating operations management and support staff.
• Effectively manage job site projects by organizing all project information to ensure they are accurate and contain all necessary information.
• Consistently demonstrates professional conduct representative of MEI corporate mission, vision and values.
• Must be able to drive to customer job sites and work and direct all activities on customer job sites.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education)

• HS diploma or equivalent necessary.
• Proven machinery moving foreman experience or comparable field experience, preferably within the machinery moving industry.
• Excellent interpersonal, supervisory and project management skills.
• Highly self-directed and motivated.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Must have extensive experience moving machinery with forklift, skating, leveling and anchoring of machines.
• Must be able to work alongside field technicians in assembly and erecting of machine tools.
• Must be able to obtain DOT medical card upon hire (company will assist as needed).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

This is physical, hands-on work. Must be able to perform General Physical Activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and activities requiring moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, or crouching. May regularly lift items up to 50 pounds. Frequently uses senses involving sight, smell, touch, and auditory. May work off the ground at varying heights; must not be affected by flashing lights, noise, or moving machinery. May perform occasional work in a warehouse or non-temperature-controlled environment and/or outdoors over uneven terrain or with exposure to inclement weather.
