Job summary

MEI Industrial Solutions in Columbus, OH is seeking a Rigging Foreman to oversee all rigging activities on assigned job sites, supervise crews, schedule work, and coordinate with customers and sales to meet safety, quality, and schedule targets. The role requires NCCCO Rigger II or NCCER Advanced Rigger, plus a Signalperson certification, a valid driver’s license, and hands-on experience with forklifts, skates and machine anchoring.

Travel is required.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent necessary.
• Proven machinery moving foreman experience or comparable field experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, supervisory and project management skills.
• Highly self-directed and motivated.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Must have extensive experience moving machinery with forklift, skating and anchoring of machines.
• Must be able to work alongside field technicians in assembly and erecting of machine tools.
• Must be able to obtain DOT medical card upon hire.
• Must possess NCCCO Rigger II certification or NCCER Advanced Rigger certification, and a current Signalperson certification.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all job site management activities of the rigging crew.
• Develops, plans and implements crew schedules in alignment with the customer and sales personnel with direction of the job.
• Directs workforce to meet operational goals in terms of volume, cost, quality, safety and schedule.
• Directly supervises and works with one or more machinery moving crews.
• Working foreman role with the ability to effectively move machinery utilizing forklifts, skates and jacks (not cranes).
• Develop, train and instruct machinery moving crews in best known rigging operation practices and procedures including safety.
• Work closely with safety personnel in coordinating safety training, accident and injury investigations and reporting and equipment or property damage incidents investigations and reporting.
• Build customer and employee relationships with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Develop highly effective relationships with customers, business partners, crating operations management and support staff.
• Effectively manage job site projects by organizing all project information to ensure they are accurate and contain all necessary information.
• Consistently demonstrates professional conduct representative of MEI corporate mission, vision and values.
• Must be able to drive to customer job sites and work and direct all activities on customer job sites.

Relocation: Out-of-state candidates are welcome to apply ; relocation to Columbus, OH or the surrounding local area is required.

Travel: Travel is required based on project needs and customer requirements.

Per Diem: Provided when staying overnight outside of the Columbus, OH area. Hotel accommodations are paid by MEI Industrial Solutions.

Schedule: Work hours and schedules may vary based on project requirements, customer needs, and travel demands.

Position Summary:

Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):

• HS diploma or equivalent necessary.
• Proven machinery moving foreman experience or comparable field experience, preferably within the machinery moving industry.
• Excellent interpersonal, supervisory and project management skills.
• Highly self-directed and motivated.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Must have extensive experience moving machinery with forklift, skating, leveling and anchoring of machines.
• Must be able to work alongside field technicians in assembly and erecting of machine tools.
• Must be able to obtain DOT medical card upon hire (company will assist as needed).
• Must possess a current NCCCO Rigger Level II certification or NCCER Advanced Rigger certification, and a current Signalperson certification.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

This is physical, hands-on work. Must be able to perform General Physical Activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and activities requiring moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, or crouching. May regularly lift items up to 50 pounds. Frequently uses senses involving sight, smell, touch, and auditory. May work off the ground at varying heights; must not be affected by flashing lights, noise, or moving machinery. May perform occasional work in a warehouse or non-temperature-controlled environment and/or outdoors over uneven terrain or with exposure to inclement weather.
