Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC seeks a Rigging Superintendent & Training to lead crane and rigging training, exams, and compliance across site locations including Houston, TX. You will supervise operations and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Requires bachelor’s degree, 5–8 or 9–12 years experience, strong knowledge of OSHA standards, crane operations, rigging, and training coordination. Travel may be required; NCCCO certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise crane operations at yard and remote locations for safety and compliance.
  • Coordinate job hazard analysis (JHA) and FLHA signing.
  • Develop toolbox talks and safety briefings.

Job Summary:

The Rigging Superintendent & Training role is based to the company Equipment Operations Inc. reports to Rigging Supervision and Training Ops. Manager and provides the company employees crane and rigging training, testing, qualification as well as operational and technical direction to craft and non-manual professionals engaged in crane and rigging activities at the company south yard and other remote locations across all GBUs as required. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities:
Training:
  • Conduct the company crane and rigging training and qualification programs including proctoring written and practical exams for non-manual and craft professionals on the company project sites. • Conduct project specific training (Bull Rigging, Crane Operations, Rigging, etc.) as requested by Rigging Training Manager/Project Trainer Manager. • Evaluates craft training needs and makes recommendations to the rigging and training management team for consideration of additional program development or project support. • Audit project training programs and compliance. • Provides feedback to training supervisors/coordinators. • Assists BEO training coordinator in the development of site-specific training needs. • Develops toolbox talks/safety flashes in areas that need additional focus.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and direct crane and rigging operations at BEO equipment yard and other project locations as required. • Ensure that all crane and rigging operations comply with applicable the company procedures, OSHA standards, and federal, state, county, and local regulations, customer, and project-specific requirements. • Engages in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and signing FLHA cards for rigging activities. • Manage all site cranes per process and procedure requirements regarding safe usage, site relocation, assembly/disassembly of telescopic RT-AT and lattice boom crawler cranes, safe rig up and safe raising-lowering of long boom cranes, proper set up, proper usage and site ground bearing conditions regarding build out of earth and timber crane pads. • Manage site COE's (crane operator examiners) and crane operator qualification program including crane operator certifications, state licenses and medical certificates verifications. • Ensures that assigned personnel are properly qualified for their task (e.g., signaling cranes); trained, competent and aware of their responsibilities, and are complying with all applicable standards, requirements, and safe practices. • Provides support in the pre-planning of rigging activities to facilitate engineering, scheduling, the development of construction equipment requirements and estimates to incorporate rigging and load-handling related requirements in the work plan. • Maintains continual contact with competent person riggers, equipment managers, and crane operators regarding the execution of lifting operations. • Supports the daily planning and undertaking of rigging activities for safe and efficient execution.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications. • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards. • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability. • Ability to read and interpret crane manufactures operator's manual and load charts. • Experienced in safe use and inspection of rigging hardware. • Ability to develop 3-week look ahead schedule regarding crane operations. • Monitor and track utilization of all site cranes. • Project experience necessary. • Rigging training and testing coordinator experience. • Good analytical and strategic planning skills: able to prioritize, balance short and long-term priorities. • Good understanding of construction industry. • Effective people skills.
Preferred:
  • Certified rigger/signal person. NCCCO, NCCCER or equivalent. • Certified crane operator, NCCCO, NCCER or equivalent. • Certified Crane Operator, experienced as A/D director for all types of mobile cranes. • Certified OSHA crane inspector. • Qualified or certified construction trainer.
