Overview

Position Title: Rigger

The Rigger is responsible for assembling rigging to lift and move equipment or material on a construction project. This position is deemed ‘safety sensitive’ due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee’s co-workers, and/or the public at large.

Responsibilities
  • Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved.
  • Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures with bolts and clamps.
  • Attach load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropers and chains to crane hook.
  • Give directions to Overhead Crane Operator engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled.
  • Set up, brace and rig hoisting equipment.
  • Splice wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle.
  • Adhere to all company safety and OSHA regulations.
  • The ability to work overtime and maintain regular, punctual attendance is required.
Qualifications

Minimum of two years’ experience as a rigger/ironworker. Must have all required hand tools. Must be able to communicate effectively with others.

Physical Demands

Must be able to frequently lift up to 100 pounds and climb up to 300 feet. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, push and pull frequently. Exposure to temperature fluctuations and loud work environment. Able to qualify as a competent person per OSHA standards. All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
