Job summary

Lee Industrial Contracting, based in Pontiac, Michigan, is seeking apprentices for hands-on training in rigging, tooling, and site safety. You will support journeymen and foremen on diverse projects, learn to use common hand tools, and progressively gain rigging skills within the Mobile Crew Department.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to instructions while developing practical expertise on industrial installations and material handling.

Qualifications

• Mechanically inclined with common hand tools (measuring, drilling, etc.).
• Basic math and geometry knowledge applied to rigging and measurements.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; work independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn to use common hand tools and apply basic math and geometry to rigging practices.
• Support other apprentices, journeyman, and foreman on various projects.
• Follow instructions from foreman and/or supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
• Keep the job site clean and well-organized.
• Handle loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Ensure attention to detail and safety standards.
• Fuel and wash department vehicles.
• Gain essential rigging skills to progress within the Mobile Crew Department.

Requirements:

• Mechanically inclined with common hand tools (tape measure, power drills, screwdrivers, etc.)
• Basic math & geometry knowledge
• Ability to work effectively with all personality types.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
• Self-directed and can work independently
• Valid driver’s license

Equipment/Tool experience:

• Aerial lift and forklift experience required.
• Overhead crane and mobile crane experience preferred.
• Trailer loading and securing of material & equipment (Preferred)

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.
• Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
• Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
• Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
• Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
• Must be able to work in cold/hot environments.
• Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
