Position Summary

Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or materials for construction projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Loads, transports, unloads, and assists in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves based on load weight and size.
  • Attaches pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and boom poles using bolts and clamps.
  • Attaches loads with grappling devices like loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hooks.
  • Provides guidance to crane operators or hoisting engineers to ensure safety during hoisting and load movement, using hand signals, loudspeakers, radios, or telephones.
  • Sets up braces and rigs hoisting equipment with hand tools and power wrenches.
  • Assembles and disassembles cranes as needed.
  • Splices ropes and wire cables to create or repair slings or tackles.
  • Performs minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in industrial construction or maintenance industries.
  • Knowledge of complex and heavy rigging, crane operation, electrical safety, ladder and scaffold safety, blueprint reading, and related rigging skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions.
