Job summary

Colt's Manufacturing Company LLC is seeking a highly organized procurement professional to oversee the entire order process. You will review proposals, negotiate prices, select suppliers, analyze cost trends, follow up on orders, verify delivery, approve payments, and maintain records.

You will negotiate costs, terms, and delivery, expediting deliveries when needed. Experience with machined parts, blueprints, and ISO 9000 environments is strongly desired to meet quality and delivery requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in purchasing, inventory, or supply chain management.
  • 5+ years’ experience purchasing in a metal working industry (e.g., Manufacturing Engineering, Cost Accounting, Production Control).
  • Experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or Defense Industries strongly desired.
  • Experience procuring complex machined parts.
  • Ability to read blueprints and experience with mechanical and technical manufacturing processes.
  • General understanding of business accounting, ROI methods, and electronic data processing techniques.
  • Exposure to value analysis techniques and state/federal procurement desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes controls to assure availability of supplies, services and materials at the lowest possible cost consistent with quality and delivery requirements.
  • Comply with all internal, federal and state laws and procedures in the processing and administration of purchase orders.
  • Determine potential sources of supply from approved vendor list and issue quotations.
  • Negotiate costs, special terms and conditions, and delivery.
  • Expedite deliveries as necessary to meet operating requirements.
  • Forecasts costs, lead times, etc.
  • Coordinate the disposition and return of rejected material and ensures timely replacement.
  • Maintain and update approved Vendor List to expand sources of supply; maintain Small and Disadvantaged business participation to meet annual goal (Military only).
  • Conduct vendor audits, e.g. facilities, capabilities, quality and support services.
  • Actively supports cost reduction programs and value analysis.
  • Establishes and maintains business relationships with suppliers.
