Position Overview:

• As a Rider Service Technician (RST), you will be the face of Velofix, providing high-level bike repair, maintenance, and customer service. You?ll be responsible for delivering outstanding service directly to clients, managing daily operations of the mobile shop, and ensuring all repairs are completed to the highest standards. This role requires both technical expertise and excellent communication skills, as you'll engage directly with customers and manage various service appointments.

Repair and bike build, overhaul, and tune up experience required. Shop management experience strongly preferred. Riders and enthusiasts preferred. Open to all ages and levels of experience.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Apply velofix standards in the assembly, tune up, and repair of a wide range of bikes and e-bikes, including road, time trial, gravel, mountain, and children's bikes.
• Evaluate the mechanical condition of the product and estimate the cost of repairs.
• Communicate proactively with customers prior to scheduled appointments.
• Manage time of daily scheduled appointments, including travel time between homes / service locations.
• Provide an educated assessment for a bicycle repair or service for the customer that includes an estimated completion date.
• Perform in-home troubleshooting, service, and repairs of all Peloton models, including Peloton Bike, Tread, and Row (training and tools provided). Professional coordination with Peloton technical service personnel is a required element of this work.
• Complete paperwork accurately and fully (record parts used work performed detail of torque tolerance and standard procedures; complete pricing of job ticket) and process to next status or location.
• Record and report any deficiencies not addressed by the repair work being done to the customer and owner.
• Assist customer in the sale or repair process by sharing product and technical knowledge as appropriate.
• Experience with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems such as Lightspeed, including inventory management and order process.
• Manage and stock all inventory, and work with owner to schedule orders and maintain inventory. Maintain Mobile Bike Shop cleanliness including bench and common workspace.
• General maintenance and upkeep of the Mobile Bike Shop, including fuel, fluids, interior and exterior cleanliness, and reporting any maintenance issues to owner.
• Assemble new bicycles, including in-home delivery.
• Install, repair, and replace equipment or accessories, such as handlebars, stands, lights, and seats.
• Align wheels.
• Disassemble axles to repair, adjust, and replace defective parts, using hand tools.
• Install and adjust brakes and brake pads.
• Sell bicycle parts and accessories.
• Install new tires and tubes.
• Clean and lubricate bicycle parts.
• Install vehicle parts or accessories.
• Adjust vehicle components according to specifications.
• Explain technical product or service information to customers.
• Sell products or services.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance.
• Order materials, supplies, or equipment.
• Assemble mechanical components or machine parts.
• Align equipment or machinery.
• Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair.
• Other duties as needed/ assigned.
  
  

Requirements

Requirements include but are not limited to:

• Minimum 4 years experience preferred working as a technician / mechanic in a bike shop.
• Previous bike assembly and tune up experience or equivalent required, shop maintenance experience strongly preferred.
• Interest in working in a team environment committed to providing excellent sales and service experience while increasing sales through service
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to maintain open and positive relations with owner and customers
• Interest in developing own skills and knowledge
• Availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings and weekends
• Ability to periodically lift 40 pounds
  
  

Nice To Haves

• Preferred candidates will demonstrate at least an understanding of shop management functions, primarily inventory management and POS systems (Lightspeed experience preferred).
• Strongest priority given to prior shop managers and/or prior entrepreneurs / business owners.
• Experience with in-home service and repairs also strongly desirable; particularly with exercise equipment such as Peloton but also including home installation or services of appliances or technology as well.
