Job summary

Dorney Park is seeking a skilled Ride Mechanic / Welder to inspect, maintain, and repair rides and attractions. This hands-on role requires mechanical aptitude and a strong safety mindset to keep guests safe and parks running smoothly.

The candidate will perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and complex welds using MIG/TIG/Arc processes. Must be able to read blueprints, work at heights, and be available for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid state driver’s license is required.
• 2–4 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in amusement, manufacturing, or industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical principles (gear ratios, torque, tool use).
• Experience with power transmission components (bearings, bushings, couplers).
• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems (preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and service manuals.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• License or Certification: able to pass 6G weld test in steel pipe within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections of rides and attractions.
• Use visual and auditory techniques to assess equipment condition and address issues.
• Execute preventative and unscheduled maintenance, including repairs and replacements.
• Inspect and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, gears, chains, sprockets, brakes, and bearings.
• Weld items as specified by layouts, blueprints, and work orders.
• Read blueprints and manufacturer manuals to ensure proper assembly and repair.
• Keep accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Communicate ride status and issues clearly to supervisors and teammates.
• Operate welding tools (MIG, TIG, Arc) and related machinery as needed.
• Work at heights up to 300 feet and comply with safety policies.
