Job summary

The State of Hawaii, Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Regulated Industries & Complaints Office, Legal Staff Branch, seeks a RICO staff attorney on Oahu (Downtown Honolulu). This exempt, temporary position handles enforcement of licensing laws, prosecutions of unlicensed activity, and collection of unpaid fines.

Licensed Hawaii attorney required with at least two years of litigation experience. Responsibilities include drafting pleadings, motions, and civil filings, and providing

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree.
• Possess at least two (2) years of litigation experience including pleadings, motions or other court documentations and regular court appearances.
• Licensed to practice law in the State of Hawaii.
• The State requires U.S. citizenship or eligible work status.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the State’s professional and vocational licensing laws through resolving complaints and initiating and prosecuting disciplinary actions.
• Initiate and prosecute civil lawsuits against unlicensed activity.
• Pursue collection efforts for unpaid fines.
• Provide legal guidance concerning complaints processing and SCAP compliance.
