The Rheumatology Physician position offers an exceptional opportunity to join the only rheumatology practice in Central Texas, serving a large patient base of 4,500 with a referral waitlist. The practice features state-of-the-art facilities, including an infusion service and a bone density machine, and actively participates in clinical trials and research. The new physician will have the opportunity to teach at a local family practice residency program while managing a robust schedule of new patients.
Location: Central TX, between Dallas and Austin. The only rheumatology practice in the area, with a significant patient drawing area.
Note: The closest group is about 45 minutes away. Unlike typical rheumatology offices, this group manages approximately 4,500 patients and has a 6-month waiting list, accepting new patients only through referrals.
Referring doctors send records with explanations for the referral. The practice reviews cases—such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis—and if deemed appropriate, schedules the appointment. They do not see osteoarthritis cases, which are handled by orthopedists. The group rejects 4-10 referrals weekly.
The practice is working on a succession plan for the future. They own an infusion service, have a state-of-the-art bone density machine, and run clinical trials and research, with opportunities for the physician to participate. The physician will also have the chance to teach at a nearby family practice residency program, with 12 students per year, most of whom rotate through the office for rheumatology experience.
The new doctor will have two months of patient volume buildup before seeing patients independently.
